​Creative Kicks are the crew you call when calm is needed but it's chaos behind the scenes. We care about how we work and what we do. Almost obsessively over prepared so on the day we can go with the flow. Sustainability focused. Reusing what we can, using rechargeable batteries and leaving no trace on site.

 It all started with two speakers for hire stored behind a couch in Elwood and a studio in a spare room. Creative Kicks was built because I was hooked on three things when I was young. Sound, travel and great stories. Music got me in the door, travel kept me curious and film taught me if the audio is cooked, the moment is gone. It's the same with visuals and live shows.

These days we work out of The Cotton Mills in Footscray on the Maribyrnong river, 10 minutes from the CBD. We still love to travel around Australia and overseas but we built the studio as our working base at home for shoots, podcast sessions, gear prep, post production and the hire space.

Mike 'Jabs' Jaballah

Founder & Director

Mike (or Jabs, Jabba, or Jabsy depending on who you ask) is a location sound recordist, sound engineer and CASA licensed ReOC chief drone pilot. He got his start DJing and running live audio in his teens before studying sound production at RMIT. Since then, he’s racked up over a decade working in live sound and music production, 6 years in drone photography and video and more recently has been spending more time behind the camera, sharpening his eye and picking up new skills. Check out Mike's portfolio here.

Mike's worked across the board. Adventure reality TV, network cooking and news shows, lifestyle series, nature docos, OBs, concerts, mockumentaries, festivals, sport events, music videos, brand activations and corporate shoots. Mike’s easy to work with and always prepared. He’s the kind of person who over plans so he can roll with whatever happens on the day. Calm, organised, focused on the job with a cheeky sense of humour to keep it fun. 

Billy

Studio Good Boy

What can we say about Billy boy. He's the heart and soul of Creative Kicks. If you come past the studio or meet Mike out on a drone shoot or site visit, you may be lucky enough to meet this good boy. And yes, he does have his own instagram page.

Always up for a pat and a scratch and so SO obsessed with his ball, in his current official role as 'studio good boy', Billy will win over your heart with his infectious energy and friendly demeanour.

Billy is more than just a little cutie around the studio. His calming presence and ability to reduce stress and anxiety make him an important part of the Creative Kicks culture, helping to create a positive work environment. Just try to be stressed when he's around. It's impossible.
